Possession in the Common Law

Possession in The Common Law

This book, first published in 1888 and written by Frederick Pollock and Robert Samuel Wright, is still used as a reference by judges today. Although some assertions are open to question, the book serves to provide an informative and elucidating background to property law, intentional property torts, property crimes, bailment and sale of goods. You may well have heard the saying "possession is nine tenths of the law." There is little exaggeration in this - a solid understanding of possession is critical to a deeper understanding of the law in common law countries.
